Jesus-Our One true Love

Today is Valentine's day. A commercial holiday that our culture has created to make money for all of the retailers and to blow up our budgets just a little more. It is a day to tell our special someone how much we love them and cherish our lives together.

Even though this is a commercial holiday, I think God likes the whole idea behind it. It is His desire for us to love each other and to sacrifically give ourselves away for the ones we love.

We talked this past week that true love originates with God.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. I John 4:7-8

It is impossible for us to love others unless the love of God is in our hearts because God is the one and only source of true love.

We also looked at the idea that God's love completes us and allows us to love each other in a way that we can complete each other.

This is God's design: we surrender our heart and lives to Him and allow His love to rule our hearts. Then this love allow us to love others in such a way that they are made more of what God created them to be.

Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 1 John 4:11-12

To love each other in a way that we become more the person that God created us to be is only possible iif Jesus is our Savior.

If we are in Him, then everyday is Valentine's day-a day to tell and show the special ones in our life how much we love them and how much we want everything God wants for them.

So, instead of just one day a year, Valentine's day should be every day!

Spend time in prayer and meditation today asking God how you can help the ones you love become everything He created them to be.
